Functional Movement Screen

The Functional Movement Screen is a test developed by Gray Cook and Lee Burton that has linked the fields of physical therapy, strength and conditioning and athletic training with an objective look at movement patterns of the human body.

The main focus of this screen is to monitor all movements that are considered fundamental to athletic success. An E3Sports Performance Specialist will evaluate a series of tests and implement corrective exercises based on the way you move. Functional movements involved with the screen pertain to a number of important athletic skills we see in everyday sports such as acceleration, deceleration, stability and mobility. Your body's overall movement skill limitations can reduce the effects of athletic development. By using this test, weak links in the body are assessed and fixed, ultimately yielding a stronger, more mobile athlete.

Functional Movement Screen Benefits include:

  • Creates a continuous focus on the fundamentals of movement
  • Creates a functional baseline to mark progress
  • Reliable and reproducible screen with specific markers for movement problems
  • Improves functional fitness and athletic performance
  • Helps to reduce the potential for training and sports injuries
  • Provides a simple grading system to assess movement patterns
  • Can be easily utilized in both the athletic and active fitness populations
  • Identifies physical imbalances, limitations, and weaknesses
