E3Sports Gives Back
Day of Service at PS 158 Honoring Martin Luther King
New York, NY - January 19th, 2009 -- E3Sports had a great opportunity to give back to the community by holding a day of service at PS 158 located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. As part of E3Sports corporate mission of Educate – Exercise – Evolve, we were very pleased to be able to work with the students of PS 158 to celebrate and honor Martin Luther King. With over 50 students in attendance, Performance Specialist Rob Noone kicked off the event with a commemorative speech summarizing the importance of the legacy of Dr. King and how his views helped to create a sense of camaraderie across America.
During the day-long event, E3Sports created team-building activities for students, including physical fitness stations, mural painting to honor the holiday, and games such as “ice breakers”, “find someone who ...” and “we're all connected” to illustrate the teachings of Dr. King in a shared and fun environment.
Martin Luther King once said, "Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?'" As we continue to grow as a Sports Performance company this important idea will be used as a guiding principal for our coaches, athletes, and parents. Valuable life lessons are learned through sports, and research has shown that coaches have a significant influence on kids ages 8-13. E3Sports believes that it is our responsibility to instill confidence in today’s youth and help shape the leader's of tomorrow through quality athletic development and educational training.
Heartfelt thanks to PS 158’s staff, kids, and parents for partaking in the event, to Up2Us for all their help planning the event and to Janovic Paint for graciously donating all of the supplies for the mural painting.
