Answorth A. Allen, MD is an Associate Attending Orthopedic Surgeon at the Hospital for Special Surgery, specializing in shoulder and knee surgery. He is also an Associate Professor of Clinical Orthopedic Surgery at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York City. Dr. Allen is Board Certified with the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Allen went to medical school at Weill Medical College of Cornell University, completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the New York Orthopedic Hospital-Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center and finished his fellowship in Sports Medicine and Shoulder Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh.
Dr. Allen is currently the Head Team Orthopedist for the New York Knicks Professional Basketball Team and former team physician for NY Mets Baseball. He is also an orthopedic consultant to the West Indies Cricket Board and St. John’s University. He is a member of The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, The Shoulder & Elbow Society, The American Academy of Sports Medicine and The American Orthopedic Association. His special interests include Arthroscopy, Shoulder Surgery, Knee and Shoulder Reconstruction, Elbow Injuries, Sports Injuries, Total Knee Replacement, and Total Shoulder Replacement. He is the author of over 100 articles, book chapters, and scientific presentations on shoulder, knee and elbow problems.
